"'GRACKLE' WINS ROUTE 66 FF's 'BEST OF THE FEST'"

(September 18, 2005 - Springfield, IL) - "The Day of the Grackle" was screened at the coveted 2pm slot on Sunday as the festival's "Best of the Fest". Since the filmmakers (Rod Weber, Michael Berry, & Michael Butler Murray) could not be in attendance due to contractual obligations, accepting the award on their behalf was Dennis Williams, a local friend of Cinematographer/Editor Rod Weber.

"GRACKLE MORE FURIOUS, FASTER, FUNNIER!!!" (7/15/05)

Director Michael Berry and Editor Rod Weber achieve Final Cut

Establishing a "Final Version" of Grackle at just under 15 minutes, "The Day of the Grackle" is now an utterly relentless, "can't-take-my-eyes-off" piece of brilliance that could now be considered absolutely "ADHD-proof". Utilizing their trial audiences at two festivals with their "work-in-progress" version of the film, much was observed and learned. So adjustments were made accordingly. Now a Festival "Must-See"... (more details to come)

  GRACKLE WINS AUDIENCE AWARD
  for BEST SHORT FILM
at LOS ANGELES' DANCES WITH FILMS!!!

(May 12, 2005) From a field of over 50 short films, "The Day of the Grackle" rose above as the winner in the coveted "Audience Award" for L.A.'s "truly independent" festival, Dances With Films. With a comedy, a filmmaker hopes for the Audience Award, as the Jury Award usually goes to a more serious film (or at least one with a pretty hefty budget).

"Having an audience of filmmaking peers choose our film is truly an outstanding accomplishment and we feel very welcomed as new filmmakers. A truly rewarding experience: new friends were made, key lessons were learned, and insights were absorbed."

Currently, talks are beginning amongst Sweetie Productions to shoot their next film (feature-length) later this year. Stay tuned for details.

Dirty Bird, Funny Movie!
by Jonathan W. Hickman

Man vs. Grackle. Man vs. Wife. Bird vs. Cherry Pie?

It's survival of the fittest as a winged demon rains a sh&% storm down on one pinned man and his shrewish wife's fresh baked goods.

Michael Berry's uniquely funny mini-thriller "The Day of the Grackle" will have you looking up as you make the walk from the front door of your home to your Hyundia. And for its scant 19 minutes, this short film will have folks cackling (or is that grackling?) throughout.

One day while doing...(read more)
